Our German Wheel show is one of our larger acts we supple. Due to the size of the wheel, the more spacious areas, the better, as our artists need to be able to move around to perform their show. Our German wheel performers have been training for many years to perfect this skill. Requiring elements of acrobatics and gymnastics, it really is a fantastic act to have at events.
The wheel was invented in 1925 by Otto Feick. He was the grandson of a blacksmith. What was inspiring his invention, was a memory of an event from his childhood. He had been tying sticks between two cartwheel bands that his grandfather had made, rolling down the hill, hence his idea.
In 1936 this sport was shown in the Olympic Games in Berlin, but did not grant as an Olympic discipline. Nowadays almost all the circus productions have a German Wheel in their show. However, artists should have great strength and coordination as well as flexibility to perform on such apparatus. Both male and female artists can perform this act, either as a solo, duo or also as a group.
If you are unsure if this act will work for your event, give us a call and we will be happy to assist you.
